Has anybody seen iLoveMP3 before? It seems to be a wrapper around QuickTime for Java which allows you to reencode AAC to MP3 reasonably easily. I've not used it but it does come with source.

Depends on how good the decoder is I guess. If the decoder is good then it should be the same as burning to CD and then ripping in theory. Saves you the hassle of burning to CD and then using something like EAC to get a good rip.

Nope. But I'm saying that if the decoder gives you good output then it's the same as decoding it, burning it to CD, ripping it and the reencoding it to MP3. If the decoder is crippled then obviously it won't be a good idea to use it

Because it's free and you get source? I know Total Recorder Standard is only $12 though.
